SPOCUS can help the members of your own specialty society, or state chapter onto the road to POCUS competency by hosting a SPOCUS CME workshops at your next convention. We have instructors that are fellowship trained, certified with amazing teaching experience.
SPOCUS CME Workshop Series is a clinical ultrasound education program designed for PAs, NPs, physicians, students and faculty. The purpose is to provide the initial hands on CME, in a 4:1 student to instructor ration, which will allow the trainee to return to the home institution/practice and continue to the experiential/Proctored phase of POCUS training.
The SPOCUS Workshop series will differ from prototypical ultrasound workshop in several ways. Firstly, SPOCUS will send the the didactic education to the Trainee about two weeks prior to the workshop through web based content and a free eBook.
“Flipping the class” will allow the Trainee to receive the didactic information prior to the session, which allows the main effort of the workshop training time to focus on the “hands on” portion of the event. More importantly the book and web based content will allow the attendee to have access to the content of the workshop, long after event has taken place.
On the day of the workshop, but prior to the hands on portion, SPOCUS cadre will present an “Ultrasound Application Overview” which will review the material and answer questions, as well as discuss pearls, pitfalls and pathology.
SPOCUS believes in the power of mentorship. As such, every workshop attendee that becomes a SPOCUS member will be assigned a mentor. The mentor will act as a partner for the attendee to guide the process of continued POCUS learning in the weeks and months after the workshop. Practice and refinement of the skills attained in the training workshops with continuation into the proctored phase of training at the home facility is key to proficiency in clinical ultrasound. The mentor can be invaluable to assist with continued training resources, literature updates, image review and assistance with credentialing and privileging at the home institution.
SPOCUS can also provide a block of education on administrative advice with billing, credentialing, leadership, quality assurance, risk management and other administrative tasks, to help the attendees formalize their current ultrasound practice presence and assume a leadership position in attendees home organization.
